May 28, 2013 – University of Belgrade Visit

On Tuesday afternoon, Aaron and Kamron went to the Faculty of Political Science, while Al and Dr. Meares visited the Faculty of Philology. In Serbia, a “faculty” is what we would call a College, part of the greater University. However, in Serbia (and many countries) they may not be located in the same place.

These photos are from our visit with the Philology Faculty. We had a productive and positive meeting with the Dean, Professor Aleksandra Vranes, Vice Dean, Ljiljana Markovic, and a group of outstanding student representatives. We discussed plans for bringing our students to Belgrade, participating in a joint conference, and even the possibilities for a joint graduate degree program based on our respective subject areas. Afterward, the students took us on a tour of the area and to a wonderful lunch. Thanks to students Ana Tesic, Katarina Nokolic, Petar Andric, Milica Mojsilovic, and Nikola Ristic (who walked us back to the hotel afterward)!

May 28, 2013 – Meeting with US Embassy Officials

We started the day with a trip to World Learning to meet with representatives from the U.S. Embassy. Ryan Rowlands (Public Affairs Counselor), Tijana Hrkalovic (Cultural Affairs Assistant), and Vukica Stankovic (Cultural Affairs Assistant) were very supportive of our efforts. We really appreciate having the opportunity to share with them our program, and get their advice and assistance for next year — we look forward to continued cooperation!
